Thermoplastic polyurethanes from soybean oil-based polyols via thiol-ene reaction for coating application |
초록 |
Prapartion of soybean oil (SO)-based polyols with controlled number of hydroxyl functionalities ranging from 2 to 4 were demonstrated. Thiol-ene click reaction between SO and 2-mercaptoethanol with adjusted conversion of carbon-carbon double bonds of SO afforded SO-based polyols with controlled hydroxyl functionalities. Thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPUs) were successfully prepared from the reaction between the SO-based polyols and diisocyanates. Mechanical and chemcial properties of the TPUs were investigated to compared with traditional TPUs. TPUs from the SO-based polyols exhibited increased Tg, moduli and tensile strength. Interestingly, the TPUs from the SO-based polyols with three and four hydroxyl functionality exhibited excellent shape memory properties likely due to their hyperbranched structure. The results suggested that the TPUs from SO-based polyols are promising sustainable alternatives to conventional TPU coatings. |
