Conversion of steady-state model for isotope separation system process to dynamic simulation using Aspen Plus Dynamics |

Hydrogen isotopes enter into isotope separation system (ISS) to achieve high purity tritium, deuterium, and deuterium-tritium, which are supplied for tokamak, a device for confining plasma to enable fusion reactions and produce clean energy. Process configuration of an ITER ISS consists of four distillation columns and seven equilibrium reactors. This study summarizes the steady-state model of the ISS process that includes the estimated thermodynamics properties, feed and products conditions and major equipment sizing. ISS process was converted from steady-state to dynamic modeling. Various dynamic scenarios were performed and evaluated for the analysis of hydrogen isotopes’ behavior in cryogenic separation. |
