Glutamate-aided resistance against CO2 toxicity in Sulfurovum lithotrophicum 42BKTT |
초록 |
Sulfurovum lithotrophicum 42BKTT, one of marine chemolithoautotrophs, exhibited the CO2 fixation at CO2 pressure up to 2 atm. There has been no report about biofixation of CO2 at that high pressure. Glutamate was a compatible solute (a metabolite for the protection against osmotic stress) and accumulated to the level of about 43% of cell protein. Its accumulation and the gene expression for the enzymes involved in its synthesis were correlated with the CO2 concentration. The culture of S. lithotrophicum in a CSTR enabled to determine the kinetics of CO2 fixation and showed the feasibility of long-term CO2 fixation. |
