The benefits of dry adhesives, inspired by Gecko lizard’s foots, for reversible and non-transferring attachment with smooth surface have been successfully demonstrated in previous studies. However, when the surface roughness of substrate is increased, the adhesion strength was dramatically decreased. This roughness issue must be released. Toward this aim, we introduce composite pillars with tunable interfaces that exploit photo fluidization of azobenzene polymer. We anticipate our concept of composite pillar with tunable interfaces overcomes today’s practical limitations in dry adhesive. |
