Polymer electrolyte and functional separator for lithium-ion batteries with enhanced safety |

In order to enhance the safety of lithium-ion battery, a cross-linked hybrid electrolyte was prepared and applied to lithium-ion cell as a safer and more reliable electrolyte. Mesoporous SiO2 nanoparticles containing reactive groups were used in the formation of cross-linked electrolyte with high ionic conductivity and good interfacial characteristics. Cycling performance of the cell with cross-linked electrolyte was remarkably improved. In the second part of our work, flexible ceramic separator with good interfacial adhesion and low interfacial resistanceswas prepared. The separator showed an excellent thermal stability and high ionic conductivity. The lithium-ion cells with Li+-conducting ceramic separator exhibited good cycling performance in terms of discharge capacity, capacity retention and rate capability. The use of a ceramic separator could also improve safety over cells employing a polypropylene separator. |
