As with some novel materials, applications of functional graphene nanomaterials (fGNs) offer various technological opportunities since they exhibit exceptional electrical, thermal, optical and mechanical properties. These fGNs have been practically used in many biomedical applications such as drug delivery, bioimaging, theranostics and tissue engineering. Recently, much attention has been paid to the potential of graphene-based materials to promote the differentiation of stem cells (SCs) into various lineages. Studies, in particular, have endeavored to determine the behavioral changes of SCs on specific substrates coated or patterned with graphene or its derivatives. In this presentation, I’d like to introduce the capabilities of some graphene-based multidimensional formations including particulates, coatings, matrices, foams and patterns as new innovative options for tissue regeneration and discuss the possibility of their biomedical applications. |
