We present a facile method to fabrication of photonic structure with a different thickness through the one-step process via flow coating. This versatile technique exploits the phenomenon known as the “coffee ring effect” coupled with confined convective flow and controlled stick-slip motion to fabricate the films consisted of silica particles. It is well known that the interaction between a visible light and periodical refractive index structured materials, such as closely packed submicrometer-sized fine spherical silica particles, induces structure color. Different amount of evaporation rate at the follow coating system allows that film forms different height of silica films displaying different hues. Diversifying the coating speed and height of blade, evaporation rate and amount of deposition are controlled. Furthermore fabricated the films with different colors and intensities on a single substrate within few minutes without extra process (e.g. Lithography). |
