We present simple method of evaporation assembly technique for the fabrication of various polymer shapes induced dewetting phenomena. Evaporation assembly technique, called flow coating, can create patterns with a broad range of length scales of polymers over a large area. Flow coating is based on coffee ring effect, commonly observed in nature. However, in the flow coating system, convective flow in the confined polymer solutions can induced on intentional position of substrate by control of its stick-slip motion with a programmed translation of a substrate. Normally dewetting is occurred due to instability of thin liquid layer and it is intrinsic property of liquid. However, dewetting patterns are interfered by pre-formed stripe patterns having low surface energy and height, which play a role as dewetting position. Through the corporation of flow coating technique and dewetting phenomenon, we could achieve the non-continuous patterns such as rod shape, potbellied shape, and V shape. |
