Conductive polymers from 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT), 3,4-propylenedioxyselenophene (ProDOS) and 3,4-ethylenedioxyselenophene-C6 (EDOS-C6) were explored as an efficient photothermal polymers. The conductive polymer films prepared by electrochemical polymerization or solution casting polymerization efficiently generated heat energy upon exposure to a near-IR laser. The photothermal effect was switchable in different doping levels of the conductive polymers. The photothermal effect and thermoelectric performance were enhanced by precisely controlling the doping state and the surface morphology from applying potential of the flexible polymer films. Especially, the doped poly(EDOS-C6) film revealed the highest photothermal conversion efficiency of 42.5%. Optimization of photo thermal and photo-thermoelectric conversion in conducting polymer films will be presented. |
