Many researchers are trying to reduce CO2 and there are many ways. Using Chemolithoautotroph could be considered as one way of reducing CO2. Sulfurovum lithotrophicum 42BKTT is a chemolithoautotrophic bacterium. It uses thiosulfate and nitrate as an electron donor and acceptor respectively. Last research of this bacterium, we found that this bacterium can grow under 2atm of CO2 without strong inhibition. We tried to find out how this bacterium stand such a high pressure of CO2. In this paper, we will deal with the physiology of this bacterium, about ‘compatible solute’. Compatible solute is a product of metabolism usually amino acid. It makes bacterium stand high salinity. Sulfurovum lithtrophicum 42BKTT uses glutamate as a compatible solute. We investigate the effects of salts to the amount of glutamate amount. The kind of salts are sodium chloride, thiosulfate and bicarbonate. Through these investigation, we find out the correlation between CO2 standing and glutamate. |
