Enhancement of Catalytic Properties of octahedral Au@Pt nanoparticles for Efficient Hydrogen Generation from Hydrolysis of Ammonia Borane |

The octahedral Au@Pt nanoparticles were synthesized using a repeated polyol method using poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (PDDA) as a capping agent. The synthesized Au@Pt nanoparticles have octahedral shapes and covered with small-sized platinum nanoparticles. The presence of PDDA was crucial for the successful formation of Pt NPs on the Au nanooctahedra core. The detailed morphology and size of the nanostructures can be controlled by changing the concentration of precursors and synthesis conditions. The octahedral Au@Pt nanoparticles exhibited higher catalytic performance of hydrogen generation from ammonia borane than that of pristine Au nanooctahedra. Also, its catalytic performance highly depends on the concentration and size of platinum attached on the gold nanoparticles, and also the synthesis condition of Pt on Au. |
