The effects of oxy/fluorination treatment of activated carbon fibers for selective drug delivery |

The porous membrane was prepared by using electrospinning and activation procedures for improving an efficiency of transdermal drug delivery system (TDDS). Polyacrylonitrile based carbon fibers were prepared by stabilization and carbonization procedures and then the developed pore structure were given to carbon fibers by using chemical activation. The surface modification of activated carbon fibers (ACFs) was carried out by using oxyfluorination and fluorination treatments to induce the hydrophilic and hydrophobic functional groups. The prepared TDDS was evaluated by using Franz-diffusion cell with applied electric force. The selective drug delivery was observed by controlling the functional groups on the surface of ACFs based on hydrophilic and hydrophobic interface reaction. |
