Power-to-liquid concept is a viable technique for converting renewable energy-generated into value-added liquid fuels. This system reduces greenhouse gas emissions while minimizing the environmental consequences of the fossil fuels sector. This study aims to conduct a thermoeconomic study of an integrated alkaline water electrolysis unit with the thermal system. Proposed polygeneration system integrates alkaline water electrolysis cells with a solar thermal and membrane-based desalination system to generate hydrogen, power, freshwater, and chlorine. A techno-economic analysis is used to assess the system's performance by taking operating circumstances of the electrochemical cells into account as operational factors. The results indicate that the proposed integrated electrochemical method coupled with thermal units is thermodynamically and economically feasible while decreasing environmental impacts.
