제목 Smart biomolecule as a designer of plasmonic nanomaterials
초록 Nanostructure corresponds to sensitivity and reliability of plasmonic bio-sensing while its control remains a great challenge. Although systematic efforts have been invested, the final structures were limited to be symmetric with identical surface facets (e.g. nano-sphere, rod, cube, disk). Synthesis of irregular nanoparticles has no principles to follow. Here, we developed groundbreaking technology of producing colloidal nanoparticles with contour-following, shape- and size-controlled architectures via precisely control of atom crystallization with DNA. This technology unlocks the toolbox full of smart biomolecules like DNA to create structure-programmable plasmonic nanomaterials. Unprecedented (e.g. asymmetric) nanostructures can generate functionally specific properties, which holds broad appeal for material and biomedical scientists.
