Strain sensors respond to mechanical deformations by changing electrical characteristics such as resistance or capacitance. Many requirements are needed to make high-performance strain sensors including sensitivity reproducibility, and stretchability. Especially, highly direction-selective sensitivity of the strain sensors is needed for accurately detecting the human motion or matter detecting. In this work, we demonstrate the highly flexible and sensitive CNT-based strain sensor which is possible to detect with a direction-selective signal. This strain sensor has an asterisk-structure, inducing the selective resistance changes with external deformations. The strain-sensing characteristics of the asterisk strain sensors including stretch/release response under static and dynamic loads, stretchability, and hysteresis performance have been investigated.
