High catalytic performance of nanocrystalline Zr1-xNixO2 catalysts for selective CO methanation |

Ni/ZrO2 catalysts have been proposed as a promising candidate for CO removal from reformed fuels via selective CO methanation (CO-SELMET). In this work, we have investigated the catalytic performance of nickel substituted zirconia derived from nanocrystalline powders for CO-SELMET with compositions 0≤x≤0.7 in Zr1-xNixO2. Nanoparticles of Zr1-xNixO2 were synthesized by urea-nitrate combustion method. The combustion method was found to be a simple and fast route for the synthesis of ultrafine, nanocrystalline Zr1-xNixO2 catalysts. The catalytic performance of the prepared catalysts have been tested in a micro fixed-bed reactor. Based on the experimental results, the influence of the urea/nitrate ratio and the Ni content on the catalytic properties of Zr1-xNixO2 catalysts has been studied and optimized. Compared with ordinary Ni/ZrO2 catalysts, the prepared catalysts have exhibited good catalytic performance and stable for CO-SELMET. |
