The hybrid aerogels could overcome disadvantage of existing fragile silica aerogels. In the previous reports, aerogels were prepared using various polymeric materials such as polyimide, polyurea and polyurethane. In our study, we synthesized the hybrid composites containing polyimide and monodisperse hollow mesoporous silica nanoparticles. The hybrid aerogel containing large surface areas and mesopore were synthesized using sol-gel processing and dried by supercritical carbon dioxide drying. The properties of aerogels were highly improved by constructing robust backbone consisting of polyimide and inserting silica nanoparticles. This hybrid network structure enhances compresion strength and shrinkage of final aerogels. The pore size, morphology and surface area of aerogel were investigated by scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscopy and surface area analyzer. |
