제목 Study of PVD Molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) study for Barium titanate (BaTiO3) Supporting layer
초록 Molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) has an extensive variety of applications, e.g., in gas sensors, catalysts, batteries, and, recently, electrodes for organic photovoltaic cells and organic transistors, etc. Here, the possibility of utilizing MoO3 as a support layer for Barium titanate (BaTiO3), is being studied. The possible candidates as a support are the most common polymorphs of MoO3 orthorhombic α-MoO3 with a layered structure and monoclinic β-MoO3 with a distorted ReO3-like structure. Due to low lattice mismatch between BaTiO3 (100) plane and α-MoO3 (020) plane, of BaTiO3 (100) plane on α-MoO3 (020). The preliminary experimental data suggest that both α-MoO3 and β-MoO3 Molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) can be grown on C-plane sapphire via dc-sputtering at 5000C for 1hour and 30 minutes. X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern confirms the growth of Molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) (020) plane on sapphire (c-plane) plane. Further analysis using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) shows the growth of Molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) in plate shape manner. Finally, the water solubility test revealed the formation of soluble surface, which is a good indication of easy transfer of BaTiO3 on desired substrate after growth. Additional study will be made to fully understand mechanism of low vacuum Sputtering MoO3 growth and its properties.
