Poly(butylene succinate) nanocomposites containing various contents of carbon nanofibers(CNFs) were prepared by the solution blending, the melt mixing, and the SOAM method, respectively. In the SOAM method, the mixture of PBS and CNFs was blended in solution, and then it was further mixed in an extruder in melt. Different preparation methods were employed to compare the degree of dispersion of CNFs in the PBS matrix. According to the SEM images, CNFs showed more uniform dispersion in the PBS nanocomposites prepared by the SOAM method. The optimum CNF content was determined by investigating the thermal and mechanical behavior of nanocomposites prepared by the SOAM method, which showed higher performance than the solution blending and the melt mixing. Nanocomposite foams were formed by using a chemical blowing agent. It was found that the nanocomposite foams showed homogeneous closed-cell structures, and the blowing ratio increased with the increase in the blowing time and temperature. |
