제목 Development of analytical methods to determine 99Tc, 90Sr, 55Fe, 94Nb and 59,63Ni in radioactive waste
초록 Radionuclide inventory determination is required to dispose low-and intermediate-level radioactive waste according to the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission (NSSC) in Korea. Among the regulatory radionuclides, beta-emitting and electron capture-decaying nuclides such as 99Tc, 90Sr, 55Fe, 94Nb, 59,63Ni should be separated individually to prevent the energy superposition and spectral interference of coexisting radionuclides and sample matrices prior to radioactivity determination. In the current study, we have focused on developing analytical techniques for Tc, Sr, Fe, Nb and Ni in a simulated waste solution. The recoveries of Tc, Fe and Ni were measured by gravimetric method while those of Sr and Nb were measured by ICP-OES (Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry). The optimized separation procedure presented excellent chemical yields of over 90% for all elements. This research will be of great assistance to permanent disposal of radioactive waste.
