The effect of radiation crosslinking on the battery separator of high density polyethylene (HDPE) with nucleating agent was investigated. The thermal shrinkage characterization of HDPE is affected by radiation crosslinking. The HPDE films with nucleating agent were irradiated at room temperature with different doses of gamma rays from a 60Co source. The resulting of thermal characterization of irradiated HDPE separators were analyzed by DSC, DMA and thermal shrinkage percent. Also, the physical properties of the separators, such as morphology, pore size and pore distribution are measured. |
