제목 Pore properties of activated carbon fibers prepared by melt spinning of petroleum pitch and PET
초록 In this study, pore properties of petroleum pitch-based activated carbon fibers (ACFs) are investigated with addition of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) during melt spinning process of petroleum pitch. The ACFs are prepared by CO2 activation of PET-added petroleum pitch fibers. The morphological and structural characteristics of ACFs are observed by field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The specific surface area of ACFs is determined from the nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherm characteristics at 77 K in BET analysis. The specific surface area and total pore volume of ACFs are increased due to the PET addition in the preparation of petroleum pitch-based fibers. In addition, ACFs show various pore properties in different PET mixing ratios. The change in pore characteristics of ACFs is originated from the condensation of pitch and the thermal degradation of PET during the activation process.
