Poly[(4,4′-bis(2-butyloctoxycarbonyl-[2,2′-bithiophene]-5,5-diyl)-alt-(2,2′-bithiophene-5,5′-diyl)](PDCBT) has been already proved as a promising P-type photovoltaic polymer with ITIC, which achieved an impressive PCE as high as 10.16 %. In this study, we report the design and synthesis of the regioisomers of PDCBT, head-to-tail and head-to-head structures, and their electrical and photovoltaic properties were investigated. Changing the position of carboxylate side-chains can affect dipole moment of polymer, influencing dielectric constant of polymers. It has been already reported that the minimized dielectric constant favors the charge trapping in polymer film, thus leading to facile charge recombination. By modifying regiochemistry of PDCBT, their optical, electrochemical, electrical and morphological properties were compared to optimize power conversion efficiency for organic solar cells. |
