A pressure driven separation process, using self-supporting crosslinked sodium alginate(SA) membranes with different swelling ratio, enabled the optical resolution of α-amino acid such as the optical isomer of tryptophan, tyrosine and phenylalanine possible. In this work, the crosslinked SA membranes were prepared by using glutaraldehyde(GA) as a crosslinking agent, and were investigated about experimental conditions, such as the various kinds of feed solution, the membrane thickness, and the crosslinking time. The result showed that the enantioselectivity of the prepared membrane increased with increasing the crosslinking time and the membrane thickness, and also, exhibited the better optical resolution for tryptophan than other feed solutions. |
