Acetaldehyde removal by air plasma discharge in a honeycomb plasma reactor at atmospheric pressure and room temperature |

In this study, acetaldehyde removal at room temperature was investigated using a sandwich-type plasma honeycomb catalyst reactor. Here, the reactor was comprised of a commercial honeycomb catalyst (93x50 mm) was located between two perforated electrodes. The result indicated that the honeycomb plasma discharge successfully decomposed low-concentration of acetaldehyde (5 ppm); furthermore, the feed gas is simulated indoor emission of acetaldehyde: high humid conjugated with high throughput. Conversion of acetaldehyde was increased when increasing specific input energy, but its decrease with high humid feed gas. As a result, under the SEI of 40 J/L, more than 60% acetaldehyde was oxidized in the feed at 2.5 % water content, and the energy efficiency was 0.5 g/kWh for acetaldehyde removal. |
