Formata(FA) is a promising alternative C1 carbon source because it can be efficiently synthesized from gaseous C1 carbon compound such as CO2 or CO. However, from now, utilization of FA has been limited because of lack of the efficient utilization method. In here, major FA utilization pathway and its flux were identified in M. succiniciproducens which can produce succinic acid(SA) efficiently. To enhcance the FA utilization in SA production heterologous formate-dehydrogenase was additionally introduced.
