This talk introduces a flexible and straightforward method for generating monodisperse suspensions of responsive soft materials by using a microfluidic technique. Tight control over the size and monodispersity of droplets as well as the interfacial structures is essential in many applications, as these characteristics determine loading levels as well as release and transport kinetics. This microfluidic technique allows us to generate a variety of novel structures: multiple emulsions, microgels with complex structutes, microgel shells, and responsive colloidosomes. The robustness and versatility of this approach are expected to generate more complex systems and create new possibilities to develop novel materials in practical applications, including drug delivery, foods, cosmetics, chemical separations, and syntheses of microspheres and microcapsules. |
