Systematic Electrical Characterization of Various Polycrystalline Proton Conducting Perovskites by Frequency Sweep upon Constant Cooling |

Proton conducting ceramic oxides are being considered for intermediate temperature electrolytes in solid state electrochemical cells. However the diverse electrical behavior of protonic ceramic conductors is not yet well understood. Non-monotonic temporal variation with long relaxation times has been known for many perovskite proton conductors. Therefore well-defined temperature dependence is difficult to be measured. In this work, therefore, electrical properties was monitored during constant cooling of 1°C/min from 800°C for the systematic investigation. AC method can provide more information on the conduction mechanism of proton conductors than DC method. Fast sweep was performed to obtain the impedance data as a function of temperature. Various cooling atmosphere was used. The measurements were also extended to the cryostat temperature where the samples are considered as a frozen state without further reaction with atmosphere. The spectra are analyzed by equivalent circuit modeling as well as by a model-free AC conductivity curve method. |
