La-Zn mixed oxide materials have been used as a typical heterogeneous catalyst for glycerol carbonylation with CO2 to produce glycerol carbonate, which has attracted great attention as an alternative route to simultaneously utilize glycerol, a byproduct of biodiesel, and CO2, a greenhouse gas. In this study, we prepared different phases of La2O2CO3/ZnO catalysts by ethylene glycol combustion method and calcined them at different temperature. The different thermal treatment temperatures induced the La2O2CO3 phase transition, proven by XRD measurements. The catalysts were applied for direct carbonation of glycerol with CO2. We investigated the effect of La2O2CO3 phase transition on catalytic performance through the reaction tests and diverse catalyst characterizations. |
