This study demonstrates the new approach of using solid camphor as diluent in preparation of alumina slurries. As prepared slurry exhibits definite low viscosity at high solid loading (50 vol%), which could be applicable for the conventional digital light processing (DLP) process. The amount of camphor added to ceramic slurry remarkably reduced the viscosity of alumina ceramic slurries without hindering photopolymerization behavior. This approach has great advantage for design flexibility, thus the complex shape of dental application (e.g., bracket) can be printed. Furthermore, the high densification of alumina frameworks after sintering at 1600c for 3h could be achieved owing to the use of the high solid loading in the alumina slurry. The sintered alumina object displayed high flexural strength (~490MPa) and high relative density (~98%). |
