Reduced Excimer formation of Crosslinkable Polyfluorenes Derivatives |

Novel polyfluorene derivatives end-capped with triethoxysilane moieties were prepared to reduce the excimer formation of rigid-rod like polyfluorene chains via π-π staking between neighboring, planar 9-dioctylflourene units. Yamamoto coupling reaction and NBS reaction were carried out to produce bromine-containing polyfluorene at both ends which were further modified by Heck reaction. Triethoxysilane units located at the end of polyfluorene chains underwent chemical crosslinking reaction to avoid intermolecular association between neighboring 9-dioctylflourene units and interrupt the formation of excimer and intermolecular aggregates in a wide temperature range. The LED performance of the thin films confirmed that this polymer improved the photoluminescence yield and performance of conventional polyfluorenes. |
