초록 | It is well known that RE-Ba-Cu-O(RE: La, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd) bulk superconductors melt-processed in a reduced oxygen atmosphere exhibit both high critical temperature, Tc and large critical current density, Jc at 77 K. In this study, we have investigated whether the addition of CeO2 nanoparticles (avg. particle size ~ 65nm) would be effective for introducing nano-sized flux pinning sites into the superconducting matrix. For a comparative study, we prepared three different batches having the initial compositions of Nd1.8Ba2.4Cu3.4Oy + 1wt%Pt, NdBa2.3Cu3 Oy + 0.3CeO2 + 1wt%Pt, and NdBa2.3Cu3Oy + 0.3CeO2. As-calcined powder of each batch were pressed into pellets, and melt-processed in 1% O2 + 99% Ar atmosphere, and then oxygenated. Interestingly, melt-grown Nd-Ba-Cu-O sample with only CeO2 addition (no excess Nd4Ba2Cu2O10(Nd422)) also maintained its shape without a significant melt loss during the melt growth. X-ray analyses of CeO 2-added bulk sample were composed of Nd123, Nd422 and BaCeO3 phases. We will present detailed microstructural features and superconducting properties of our samples.
