Recently, various studies have reported controlled evaporative self-assembly of semiconducting polymer, poly(3-hexylthiophene 2,5-diyl) (P3HT) on a 2-dimensional substrate. In order to construct 3-dimensional hierarchically ordered structures of P3HT, we employed a capillary force-assisted evaporative self-assembly by using cylindrical geometry. The thiophene groups within P3HT induced directional self-assembly via intermolecular π-π stacking, resulting in uniform alignment of P3HT at contact line. As a result of the coffee ring effect and the stick-slip phenomenon, uniform width and interval of circular P3HT line patterns were achieved. Various parameters affecting P3HT assembly such as temperature, P3HT concentration, gravitational force, and magnetic field are also discussed. |
