In this study, we report a simple strategy for synthesis of multicompartment particles using sequential micromolding method. In detail, injection of photocurable solution and evaporation of volatile solvent with UV irradiation of each compartment results in formation of multicompartment particles without complicated equipment. In addition, by controlling concentration of volatile solvent in photocurable solution, we can synthesize multicompartment particles with controlled volume fraction. Furthermore, by embedding fluorescent dyes at each compartment, we can demonstrate the possibility of application for barcode particles. These sequential micromolding method for multicompartment particles has several advantages including easy, fast, and cost effective process. So, we believe that the multicompartment particles have various applications such as drug storage, biosensors, and advanced materials for inducing highly selective adsorption-desorption. |
