In our previous study, cesium azolides prepared from the reaction of cesium carbonate with corresponding azole compounds were firstly applied as catalyst for the direct carboxylation of CO2 and amines to produce various 1,3-disubstituted ureas in the absence of dehydrating agents. Surprisingly, cesium benzotriazolide (Cs[BTd]) was found to be the most active as well as robustly recyclable catalyst for the carboxylation reaction with maximum TOF of 344 h-1. In this study, the effect of experimental variables such as temperature, CO2 pressure, reaction time, solvents, and mechanistic studies based on the in situ spectroscopic analysis were investigated. |
