Plasmonic NPs have received increased attention as visible-light photocatalysts. Conventional plasmonic photocatalysts such as Au/TiO2 have been shown to drive important chemical reactions like water splitting using visible light. In our work, we accomplished a simple one-electron reaction using only plasmonically excited Au NPs. In this talk, we will deal with the behavior of reaction rate on photochemical reaction and the changing in activation energy by light contribution on Au catalyzed photochemical reaction. We found that multiple e-/h+ pairs can be harvested and may be utilized multi-electron reactions. Secondly, we will discuss the changing in activation energy of the Au NPs-catalyzed electron transfer reaction. Photoelectrochemical potential can be built up on the Au NPs compared to the dark Fermi-level, resulting in reducing activation energy as much as ca. 0.2 eV. |
