The film forming behavior and the interfacial adhesion of waterborne coatings are largely dependent on the particle morphology. In order to examine the relationship between particle texture of waterborne PBA-PMMA structured latex, we prepared various acrylic particles including random copolymer particle and composite latex particles. The effect of various particle morphology and phase ratio on the film formation and adhesion properties was investigated. In order to trace the film forming behavior, we carried out pseudo on-line measurement of tensile fracture energy and UV transmittance during film formation. In order to measure adhesion strength, we also performed peel strength test and cross hatch-cutting test. |
