Photo-responsive fluorescent graphene by spiropyran conjugated hyaluronic acid |

Preparation of photo-responsive graphene oxide using adhesive material dopamine hydrochloride (DN) and photochromic dye spiropyran (SP) is reported. Both DN and SP have been conjugated to the backbone of the targeting ligand hyaluronic acid (HA) (HA-SP). Graphene oxide (GO) was reduced by HA-SP where DN aid to reduce graphene oxide (rGO/HA-SP). The rGO/HA-SP can be converted to corresponding merocyanine (MC) form upon irradiation with UV light (365 nm) displaying purple color investigated by UV-vis and fluorescence spectroscopy. In vitro and in vivo fluorescence behavior of rGO/HA-SP against cancerous A549 cell lines assured that efficient delivery of rGO/HA-SP was gained due to HA as targeting ligand. Biodistribution analysis assures the accumulation of rGO/HA-SP in tumor tissue. The drug release from rGO/HA-SP recommends the developed material as fluorescent probe for diagnosis and a drug carrier for DDS. |
