The concept of a polymer electrolyte could be described by the fact that when a salt is dissolved in an appropriate solvent ion dissociation occurs through the solvation process leading to ionic conductivity. To improve the ion conducting behavior of polymer electrolytes, composite polymer electrolytes having additives were considered. By preparation of composite electrolytes containing binary salts, the electrochemical and mechanical properties could be controlled. In this work, the conducting polymer composite electrolytes were made by using poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO), and lithium salt and imidazolium salt. The influence of imidazolium salts as additives on the ionic conductivities and the interfacial characteristics was analyzed. It could be found that the ionic conductivity of the composite electrolytes showed improved behaviors due to the better ion transfer by addition of additive materials. |
