제목 | Preparation and characterization of poly(terephthalate)/silver nanofibrous scaffolds and their antibacterial activities |
초록 | Nanofibers are the ultra-fine solid fiber notable for their very small diameters. And electrospinning is one of the useful ways to form nanofibers.1 Here we report the preparation of the nanofibrous scaffolds for the biomedical application using electrospinning. Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) shows the excellent properties like transparency, outstanding processability, light weight, and good impact resistance. Therefore PET is widely used for barriers, fibers, sheets and films. In this study, antibacterial activities of PET was significantly improved by blending with silver nanoparticles. Silver itself can be used as antibacterial and deodorizing agents. And it in recent years has been used in a variety of medical applications.2 PET was dissolved in 1,1,1,3,3,3-Hexafluoro-2-propanol and colloidal silver in isopropyl alcohol was added. PET chips blended with silver nanoparticles were dissolved in 1:1 dichloromethane and trifluoroacetic acid. The solutions were subjected to electrospinning to fabricate nanofiber mats on the PET nonwoven fabrics. The PET/Ag blended nanofiber mats were investigated by XRD, ICP, and ESCA. The morphology of nanofibrous scaffolds was observed using scanning electron microscope (SEM). The antibacterial effect of PET/Ag blended nanofibers on Staphylococcus aures and Klebsiella pneumoniae was performed by the shaking flask and the static vial methods.3 The SEM morphology of PET nanofibers is shown in Fig. 1 and that of PET/Ag nanofibers shown in Fig. 2.
