제목 A utilization of Water-Soluble Titanium-Citrate Complex (WSC) as a catalyst of biodegradable polyesters
초록   Titanium butoxide (TBT), one of the most commonly used catalysts of polyesters for efficiency, is extremely weak in moisture. The multi-step injection of catalyst is selected when biodegradable polyesters are synthesized to preserve optimal catalytic activity. The extra catalyst injected by multi-step can remain in the final product, which leads to thermal degradation and mechanical deterioration during thermal processing.
In this study, instead of a multi-step injection of TBT, water-soluble Titanium-citrate complex (WSC) was injected only once at the beginning of synthesis. Poly(butylene succinate)(PBS) and poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate)(PBAT) were synthesized during similar polymerization time with WSC. Economically beneficial single-step catalytic injection can induce superiority of maintaining mechanical properties even after thermal processing such as injection molding. The catalytic activity of biodegradable polymers can be adjusted during initial synthesis.
