Understanding of the Strain Softening Behavior of High Crystalline Impact Copolymer Under Uniaxial Tension |
초록 |
As new high modulus polypropylenes (PP) are commercialized, this has brought PP into many engineering applications. Most notable are the thermoplastic polyolefins, TPO, that are used as instrument panels and bumper fascia in automotive and consumer housing appliances. Additionally, for applications with lower impact resistant requirements, impact modified high crystalline polypropylenes are used, such as the front and middle pillars in the automotive industry. It has been established in earlier studies that the effect of rubber particle size plays an important role in the impact toughness of these TPO and impact copolymers (ICP). In this study, a model is proposed that determines rubber particle size and distributions and these results are quantified using a statistical analysis method. In addition, the strain softening behavior of high crystalline PP impact copolymer under uniaxial tension loading is discussed based on the proposed model. |
