Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells assembled with Electrospun Polyacrylonitrile/Silica Nanocomposite Fibrous Membrane |

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have been studied widely because of their low cost, simple fabrication and high conversion efficiency. But the drawbacks of leakage and volatilization of liquid electrolytes lead to the poor long-term stability. An activation of a porous polymer membrane in electrolyte solution is an efficient method to solve this problem. In this work, we prepared polyacrylonitrile(PAN) nanocomposite fibrous membrane containing different amount of silica nanoparticles which have been obtained via electrospinning. The PAN/silica(10wt%) nanocomposite fibrous membrane containing liquid electrolyte has the ionic conductivity of 2.72 mScm-1 at room temperature. The DSSC assembled with PAN/silica(10wt%) nanocomposite fibrous membrane electrolytes showed a much higher conversion efficiency (CE=7.75%) than the others at 100 mWcm−2. The cell also exhibited enhanced long-term stability as compared to that of liquid electrolyte based cell. |
