Multi-Cathode Structures to Enhance Electron Injection in Polymer Light-Emitting Diodes. |

Polymer light emitting diodes (PLEDs) have attracted broad attention among scientists concerning their application. Efficient light emission can be achieved by reducing or eliminating energy barriers at polymer/electrode interfaces and by balancing hole and electron injection. For most of the conjugated polymers, electron injection is a relatively challenging issue. Low work-function metals such as calcium are often used to promote electron injection. However, these metals are susceptible to degradation upon exposure to air, which require device encapsulation. In this work, we studied the effect of different cathode structures on spirobifluorene-based polymer devices. With a composite cathode composed of BAlq layer have shown lower voltage, higher efficiency, and better forward light output than devices with other composites cathode. |
