Polyol Derivatives Based on Castor Oil and Succinic Anhydride for Polyurethane |

We report on a series of eco-friendly polyols based on castor oil with maleic anhydride and succinic anhydride for polyurethane. CMA and CSA intermediates are synthesized with castor oil having secondary alcohol and maleic anhydride or succinic anhydride, respectively. The polyols are synthesized with CMA / CSA intermediates and various amino alcohol derivatives for introducing the primary alcohol groups. All reactions are performed without any catalyst. CSA-based polyols exhibit lower viscosity and higher miscibility with commercial synthetic polyols than CMA-based polyols. |
