In this work, nitrogen enriched activated carbon nanotubes (A-CNTs) were used to measure the characterization of CO2 adsorption. A-CNTs were prepared by impregnation with amine in methanol after chemical activation methods using KOH. Nitrogen enriched A-CNTs were characterized by mass titration method, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and BET measurements. CO2 capture capacity as a function of temperature was measured by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). From the result, the impregnated amine group on A-CNTs led to an increase the basicity and nitrogen content of the carbon. As temperature, consistently CO2 capture ability of amine group impregnated A-CNTs decreased as compared with neat A-CNTs. It was due to the stronger interactions between the gaseous CO2 and the amine groups presented on the carbon surfaces studied. |
