제목 Effects of synthetic conditions on the preparation of PVP-coated iron oxide nanoparticles and MRI contrast effect
초록 Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles were suggested as potential MRI contrast agents as early as the mid 1980s1. Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles, in general, require stabilization in order to prevent aggregation. Ultrasmall iron oxide particles(USPIO) are also monodisperse, with a mean diameter less than approximately 50 nm but often have a large range of particle sizes within a sample. Superparamagnetic iron oxide particles(SPIO) refer to particles with aggregated iron oxide cores and a mean particles diameter greater than approximately 50 nm2. Iron oxide nanoparticles were prepared by the thermal decomposition of Fe(CO)5 (iron pentacarbonyl). PVP (polyvinylpyrrolidone) was used as surface modified reagent to control the size of the iron oxide nanoparticles. The crystalline structure of PVP-coated iron oxide nanoparticles was determined by XRD. The size of PVP-coated iron oxide nanoparticles was determined by TEM, ELS. The particle sizes of PVP-coated iron oxide nanoparticles were controlled by the molar ratio of PVP/Fe(CO)5, solvent and molecular weight of PVP. Particle sizes increased with increasing PVP content. Spherical 50∼100 nm sized iron oxide nanoclusters were producted when dimethylformamide was used as solvent. (Figure 1) And well-defined 3∼5 nm iron oxide nanoparticles were producted in Carbitol. (Figure 2) Prepared PVP-coated iron oxide nanoparticles exhibited a well-dispersed property in water.
