There have been many studies to increase proton conductivity by nanocomposites, but most of them have not considered the relation between the size of nanochannel and proton conductivity. High concentration of nanoparticles resulted in aggregation of nanoparticles in nanochannel, which reduced proton conductivity due to blocking protons. Therefore, it is important to control the size of nanochannel by uniform distribution of nanoparticles. To correlate the size of nanochannels and conductivity with addition of nanoparticles, we prepared sPEEK nanocomposite membranes including sulfonated POSS with different concentration. And their size of nanochannel was analyzed by SAXs and it was compared with proton condcutivity. The size of nanochannel expanded in S-shaped curve with the addition of nanoparticles, where highest proton condcutivity occured when nanochannels expanded most rapidly. This correlation could be equally applicable to all nanocomposites to increase proton conductivity. |
