3-dimensional crystal polymers is synthetically challenging especially when polymerization of any monomer takes place in a linear dimension. The linear growth of single-monomer-based polymer often has entropically driven chain entanglements. A new concept of a precursor was attempted where two monomers were linked through a connector that could be then polymerized. Here we report the polymerization of two-monomer-connected precursors (TMCP) for high crystalline polymer. The simultaneous growth of TMCP resulted in a 3-dimensional close-packed crystal structures in polymers, which was confirmed by high voltage electron microscope, coupled with X-ray diffraction. Furthermore, TMCP-based polymer showed 35-times higher electrical conductivity than that of the single-monomer-based polymer showing promise for applications in diverse fields. |
