Transparent conducting films have been applied for variety of applications such as touch screens, sensors, photovoltaics and so on. Sputtered indium tin oxides (ITO) have been used for the most of applications due to good conductivity and transparency. Other developments utilize silver nanowires, metal meshes, carbon nanotubes, graphene, and conducting polymers. Recent advent of flexible and stretchable applications drive flexible electrode developments more interesting. ITO film lacks flexibilities due to its inorganic nature. We have focused to improve flexibility of ITO films by combining functional organic materials. The ITO composite film flexibility has been improved with conductivity and transparency comparable to the ITO alone. We propose a way to improve the mechanical properties of the ITO while controlling the optical properties of ITO film. We report results from the lab as well as industrial, roll-to-roll processing with bending and long-term reliability test results. |
